Mithila gets permanent bail in Evaly case

Dhallywood popular actress Rafiath Rashid Mithila has been granted permanent bail on Thursday in a case filed by a customer of e-commerce company Evaly. 

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury passed the order after Mithila, through her lawyer, surrendered before it, seeking bail in the case. On the day, Mithila surrendered through her lawyer and appealed for a permanent bail as her eight-week anticipatory bail granted by the High Court was expired.   The judge granted her bail until the police report was submitted after the hearing. 

Earlier, on December 13, the High Court bench comprising of Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim and Justice Md Atowar Rahman granted an eight-week anticipatory bail to actresses Rafiath Rashid Mithila and Sabnam Faria.   

On November 21, 2021, a customer of Evaly named Saad Sam Rahman filed a case in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari against nine persons including Tahsan, Mithila and Sabnam Faria. 

The court accepted the plaintiff’s statement and directed the Dhanmondi police station in the capital to accept the case as an FIR.

On December 4, Dhanmondi police took the case as an FIR. The next day, the case was sent to the court from the police station. The Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court accepted the case and directed to file a report on January 10.

The other accused in the case are – Evaly managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) Mohammad Russell, his wife Shamima Nasrin, chairman of the company, Akash, Arif, Taher and Md. Abu Taish Kayes.
