This year, the government is going to present the Ekushey Padak to twenty citizens and one organization in recognition of their outstanding contribution in various fields. The joint secretary of the Ministry of Culture Faizur Rahman Farooqi released the names via a notice on February 5.
This time, renowned Rabindra Sangeet Singer Mita Huq is going to receive Ekushey Padak for her contribution in the field of Rabindra Sangeet.
The notice said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will formally hand over the Ekushey Padak at Osmani Memorial Auditorium on February 20 at 10:30am.
Regarding this Mita Huq said, “It feels great whenever someone acknowledges your work. I am also very happy to be receiving such a prestigious award from the government. I hope I will be able to work more for Rabindra Sangeet, which I have come to love throughout my life. I want to thank all those who have supported me throughout the decades and those who have been with me in my journey.”
The others who are receiving the Ekushey Padak are: Late Aminul Islam Badsha (posthumous) in Language Movement; Begum Dalia Nawshin, Shankar Roy in music; Md Golam Mustafa Khan in dance, SM Mohsin in acting, Professor Dr Farida Zaman in fine arts, Late Haji Akhter Sardar (posthumous) and Late Abdul Jabbar (posthumous) and Late Dr AAM Mesbahul Haque (Bachchu Doctor) (Posthumous) in Liberation War; Zafar Wazed (Ali Wazed Zafar) in journalism; Dr Jahanagir Alam and Hafez Kari Allama Syed Mohammad Saifur Rahman Nijami Shah in research; Professor Dr Bikiran Prashad Barua in education; Professor Dr Shamsul Alam in economics; Sufi Mohammad Mizanur Rahman in social service; Dr Nurun Nabi, Late Sikder Aminul Haque (posthumous) and Begum Nazmun Nesa Piyari in language and literature, and Professor Dr Sayeba Akhter in medical science.
