The body of Sweet (21), a member of the now-banned Bangladesh Chhatra League, was recovered from a jute field in Bijoypur village under Lalpur upazila on Monday. He had been missing since Saturday night.
According to family sources, Sweet last contacted his father around 10am on Saturday while in Gopalpur Bazar. When he failed to return home, relatives launched a search.
On Monday, around 1pm, a sandal belonging to Sweet was discovered beside the Bijoypur–Chaknajirpur rural road. His father later found the body nearby in a jute field and informed police.
Confirming the matter, Lalpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mominuzzaman said that the injury marks were visible on the victim’s neck. The body has been sent for autopsy and an investigation is underway.
