Missing Ctg journo rescued

Journalist Golam Sarwar was rescued from Kumira area of Chattogram’s Sitakunda on Sunday night three days after he disappeared from his home on October 29.

Locals found Sarwar in Kumira area and took him to a decoration shop, Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Saleh Mohammad Tanvir told Bangladesh Post.

Sarwar is the executive editor of online news portal citynewsbd.com and a staff journalist at a Dhaka-based weekly, "Ajker Surjodoy."

He underwent treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Chittagong Journalists Union President Mohammad Ali said they brought Sarwar to the CMCH along with the police.

Sarwar “has been kept in ward number 14 and physicians are running medical checkup on him. His condition, however’ is somewhat normal.” Ali added. A colleague of filed a general diary at Kotwali police station after the journalist went missing.

Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station Mohammad Mohsin said no case has been filed so far. 

Legal action will be taken after receiving a complaint, he added.
