Unidentified miscreants felled some 300 Mango trees belonging to the Amrapali variety at an orchard under Bautia village under Mohanpur union of Godagari upazila on Friday night. The owner of the orchard Mafizul Islam has lodged a complaint with Godagari Police Station in this connection.
The Orchard owner Mafizul Islam said he planted those Amrapali variety of mango saplings three to four years ago. The trees grew large and were supposed to bear fruit this year. But, the miscreants at night felled all those matured trees.
He further said, he bears a good relationship with all local people and has no enmity or strained relationship with anyone that is why he does not suspect anyone in this connection. But, he opined, no single person could fell all those 300 trees planted on nearly two bighas of land.
Abdul Matin, Officer-in-charge of Godagari Police Station informed action will be taken in this connection after the investigation.
