Miscreants cutting dyke soil in Mirsarai

Some miscreants using the name of Jubo League have cut the soil of the embankment of the Muhuri Irrigation Project on the Feni River in Mirsarai, Chattogram. They are planning to set up a poultry farm in Osmanpur union of the upazila by cutting the soil at least 200 feet.

Meanwhile, locals said that since last Saturday (March 26), local Jubo League activists Farhad Hossain, Riaz Uddin, Mubarak Hossain and Saiful Islam and their associates started cutting the soil of the dam with an excavator.

The locals also said that if the Ansar BDP members in charge of the project obstructed the cutting of soil on the instructions of the Water Development Board Feni, but the influential quarters involved in cutting the soil threatened them. 

Later last Sunday (March 27) Paubor Feni sub-divisional engineer Nurun Nabi lodged a complaint with the Jorarganj police station in Mirsarai mentioning the names of four people involved in soil cutting. After the allegation, the police went to the spot but did not take any legal action against the responsible persons till the writing of the report on Monday.

Juba League activist Farhad Hossain claimed that he was not involved in cutting the soil. He had an ague with water board earlier after that, the officials of the Water Development Board have deliberately included our name in the issue of cutting any soil. '

Meanwhile,Mirsarai Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) SM Jamiul Hikma went to the spot on Monday. He went to the spot and talked to the locals and got information about those involved in the incident.

The Mirsarai Upazila administration official said, "I went to the spot and talked to the locals and collects information." Preparations are being made to file a case in this regard.

Sub-divisional engineer Nurun Nabi said, "As soon as I got the news of cutting the dam, I sent the Ansar members involved in the project. There, Farhad threatened to kill the members. Later, I first reported the matter to Zorarganj police station on my mobile phone and the next day I lodged a written complaint with the police station mentioning the names of the accused. '

However, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jorarganj Police Station Nur Hossain Mamun said, "A general diary has been filed on behalf of Water Development Board." We are investigating the matter. Legal action will be taken after the investigation.
