Miraz blames lack of preparation

Bangladesh's batsmen faltered in the face of a challenging target in the first Test against Sri Lanka. After Sri Lanka set a massive 511 runs to win, Bangladesh lost half their side for a mere 37 runs in the final session of Day 3 on Sunday.

Mehedi Hasan Miraz blamed the team's lack of preparation for the Test series, citing the T20 and ODI matches against Sri Lanka just before. "We couldn't prepare much for the Tests," he said at a post-match press conference on Sunday.

"The batters themselves can say what was going through their minds at that moment. It is tough to bat late in the day, but we needed to take that challenge, as we are professional cricketers. Personally speaking, our dismissals were very disappointing," he added.

"Still, we will try. Mominul bhai is still there, I'm there, if we can score some runs it would be good for us."

Bangladesh ended the day at a precarious 47 for 5, with the remaining batsmen needing to show significant fight to avoid a heavy defeat. Miraz expressed hope that they could at least reduce the margin of loss.
