An 18-month-old child drowned in a pond in Tungipara upazila of Gopalganj on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Rimi, daughter of Shukur Ali, a resident of Borni Madhyapara area in the upazila.
Shukur said Rimi fell in a pond adjacent to the house on Tuesday afternoon in absence of other family members.
The child was rushed to Goplaganj General Hospital where doctor declared her dead at Gopalganj General Hospital.
Dr Manjurul Kabir, physician of the emergency unit of the hospital, said the child was brought dead to the hospital.
