Jashore Kotwali police arrested a woman for quizzing in connection with raping of a five-year girl allegedly by her son Babu of Dharmatala area in Jashore town on Sunday evening.
Sub inspector Nahian of Kotwali police station said that the police picked up Phulmati Bagum, mother of Babu of Dharmatala area who raped the child at his residence on the evening of April 27.
Samir Kumar Sarker, officer in-charge of Jashore Kotwali police station said that the police were hunting for the rapist.
Locals on Monday morning brought out a protest procession in Jashore town and demanded arrest of the rapist.
The victim’s mother said that Babu, a nephew of their rented house owner, raped her daughter alluring for a chocolate. Locals rescued her hearing hue and cry.
A case was lodged in this connection.
