It seems as millions of migratory birds are sitting on the Bishkhali River and vast char of Jhalokati. Sometimes floating in the water and sometimes flocking on the char areas, which are attracting people there.
These guests are arriving at this time of winter every year due to the love of the villagers and favorable weather. Although the hunters’ eyes have on them, the Union Parishad and the locals are taking care of these birds.
Char Sachilapur village is in the Dhansiri union of Jhalokati Sadar upazila, it is on the side of Bishkhali River. The place does not have easy access to both roads and waterways. As a result birds came to this natural place every year.
Naukamajhi Abdul Alim, a resident of Bishkhali river bank, said that for the last 10 years, this time of winter, flocks of birds have been visiting here. Sometimes they are floating on the Bishkhali River while sometimes they are flocking over the char areas. But as soon as hear the sound of human movement, millions of birds covered the sky with their wings.
Jobeda Begum, a woman from the village, said that most of the guest birds are sand ducks. However, there are other birds including Pan Kauri and Buck. I keep watch over these birds.
Local UP chairman Abul Kalam Masum said, “Sometimes people from the district town come to hunt birds. However, the common people of the village resisted them. The local union council also takes care of it.”
UP Chairman Abul Kalam Masum has demanded the district administration to set up a sanctuary for guest birds here.
Every year, at the end of winter, when the summer season begins, a large number of birds return to their own address. However, the villagers on the banks of the river Bishkhali are waiting for the arrival of these guests with absolute love.
