Military representatives of 7 countries pay tribute to Bangabandhu

A delegation of military representatives from seven countries working in Dhaka paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by laying a wreath at his mausoleum at Tungipara in Gopalganj on Sunday.

DG of Directorate General of Defence Intelligence (DGFI) Maj Gen Hamidul Haque led the delegation, which also offered special prayers seeking the salvation of the departed soul of the Bangabandhu.

The delegation comprised Defence Attaché Lt Col John Dempsey of Australia, Defence Attaché Brig Manmeet Singh Sabarwal and Assistant Defence Attaché Squadron Leader Abhutosh Sharma of India, Military Attaché Brig Gen Soe Nyunt of Myanmar, Military Attaché Brig Roshan Shumsher Rana of Nepal, Defence Attaché Brig Ali Ejaz Rafi of Pakistan, Military Attaché Col Mahmoud MJ Sharawnah of Palestine and Military Attaché Col Erdal Sahin of Turkiye.

Senior officials of DGFI, district administration and police administration and local political leaders were present at the time. The DGFI Director General signed the visitors' book there.

Spouses and children of the military representatives laid separate wreaths at the mausoleum to pay respect to the Bangabandhu. 

After paying tribute, the delegation members visited Bangabandhu's mausoleum complex area and later left for Bagerhat to visit the Shatgombuj (sixty-dome) mosque and the Sundarbans.

 DGFI Director General Maj Gen Hamidul Haque said the military representatives working in Bangladesh came to pay respect to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation and the greatest Bengali of all time, as part of their annual travel programme.
