Militants surrendering to be rehabilitated’

Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Mottakim, Commander of Rapid Ation Battalion (RAB)-5, Rajshahi at a press conference held at his office on Wednesday said that the militants who will surrender willingly will be rehabilitated.

 He informed that a total 55 militants were arrested from Rajshahi region during last one year. In this connection, he said, if anyone could realise his fault and being repented wants to return to normal life, he will be assisted from the RAB. RAB will also cooperate him to provide employment. 

The RAB Commander further informed, during the January to December last year, RAB recovered 91 illegal fire-arms, 219 rounds of bullets. 76 magazines, 57.5 kilogrammes of Heroin, 11.6 kilogramme of opium, 38,687 bottles of Phensidyl, 189,991 pieces of Yaba and 413 bottles of foreign liquor and arrested 3,071 people including fire-arms smugglers, drug peddlers, fake doctor and accused in various cases.

At the same time, in observance of the Birth Centenary of Bangabandhu, RAB also distributed food among orphans, planted trees, donated blood, distributed books among students and distributed blankets among the distressed.
