Recently, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained four members of militant organization Allahr Dal from the capital city. The terrorist organization had been active since 1995.
Formed by one Matin Mehedi alias Mehedi Hasan, who has been in jail since 2007 in connection to serial blasts, the organization has been running covertly and has amassed a big following as well as funds. They are actively trying to topple the existing democratic frameworks through armed conflicts and sabotage. The acting chief of the organization has also been arrested by RAB earlier this month.
It is worrisome to note that the organization has a large following of unemployed or otherwise unsuccessful men and women who have nothing to lose. These people are plotting to create chaos in the country and are ready to resort to violence.
They misinterpret the Holy Quran and Hadiths for collecting terror funds. They collect so-called Zakat on a monthly basis from their gullible and brainwashed followers to fund their illicit activities. Moreover, RAB came to know that they were trying to recruit retired and terminated persons of different forces to conduct armed training of its members.
The government and law enforcement agencies
should keep an eye on the unemployed
population in the country, as they are
more likely to get involved in militancy
The government and law enforcement agencies should keep an eye on the unemployed population in the country, as they are more likely to get involved in militancy. The government should also prioritize creation of jobs as it would go a long way in deterring criminal activities.
The government needs to allocate funds and resources to rehabilitate those involved in terrorist activities. Law enforcement agencies should be instructed to keep a close eye on any kind of organization with suspicious activities and create a watch-list for at risk individuals. Cooperation from ordinary citizens is also needed to ensure that any militancy or terrorist activities get stopped in their tracks.
