Two more students injured in the Milestone School and College jet crash has died while undergoing treatment at National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
So far, 13 victims died at burn institute while the total death toll from Monday's plane crash stood at 34 with mostly schoolchildren.
The victim, 15-year-old Mahia, succumbed to her injuries around 4:30pm at the institute's intensive care unit, said Shaon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon of the burn institute.
Mahia, an eight grader, had suffered 50 percent burns, he said.
Earlier around 1:30pm today, 13-year-old Mahtab Uddin Bhuiyan, a seventh grader of the school, succumbed to his injuries at the ICU.
However, officially the number of deaths was 32.
3 students, two guardians still missing: Milestone Principal
Three students and two guardians remain missing since the deadly plane crash of an air force aircraft at Milestone School and College in the capital's Uttara.
Mohammad Ziaul Alam, principal of the educational institution, revealed the information through a statement issued on Thursday.
In the statement, he said that on Monday, between approximately 1:12pm and 1:14pm, a Bangladesh Air Force FT-7 BGI fighter jet crashed during a routine training. Since classes had ended at 1:00pm, only a few students were waiting for their guardians when the tragic accident occurred.
He also said that in the incident, 18 students, two teachers, and two guardians from our school branch lost their lives on that day. A total of 51 people were seriously injured, including 40 students, seven teachers, one guardian, one female attendant, and one office assistant.
As of now, five individuals -- three are students and two are guardians -- remain missing, the statement added.
"On Tuesday, Milestone School and College formed an internal investigation committee regarding the incident. Accordingly, the school authorities are only providing information about those from this institution who are deceased, injured, or missing. The process of updating this information is ongoing," the statement said.
Meanwhile, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has said that the bodies of six deceased persons have yet to be identified. DNA samples have already been collected from their families for test.
Currently, the unidentified bodies are kept at the morgue of the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
DNA tests confirm identities of 5 killed in Milestone jet crash
The Forensic DNA Lab of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has ascertained identities of five more persons killed in Monday's air force fighter jet crash at Milestone School and College at Uttara in the capital.
"The CID collected 11 DNA samples and confirmed identities of five female children," said a CID press release on Thursday.
The five children are: Okia Ferdous, daughter of Faruk Hossain and Salma Akter, Lamia Akhter Samia, daughter of Md Babul and Majeda, Afsan Akter Priya, daughter of Md Abbas Uddin and Minu Akhter, Raisa Moni, daughter of Md Shahabul Sheikh and Mim, and Marium alias Afia, daughter of Abdul Kadir and Umme Tamima Akter.
Bodies of six unidentified persons were kept at the morgues of Combined Military Hospital, while body of one person at the morgue of Lubana General Hospital and Cardiac Centre, said a handout of the PID on Wednesday.
DNA sample testing was carried out to hand over the bodies to their families.
Meanwhile, the government today formally published names of 22 deceased and 57 injured in the plan crash.
A total of 22 bodies have already been handed over to their families after identification, said a PID press release on Wednesday.
According to the information provided by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) at 3:30pm today, the death toll in the aircraft crash stands at 30 while 55 injured are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the capital.
With the newly identified five and one child who died at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) this afternoon, the identities of 28 people have been known.
Twenve-year old Mahatab succumbed to his burn injuries at the NIBPS Intensive Care Unit (ICU) around 1:50 pm on Thursday.
