A mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping across different parts of the country, including Dhaka, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
In a bulletin issued on Friday morning, the BMD said the mild to moderate heatwave is currently affecting Khulna division and several districts, including Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Feni, Lakshmipur, Rangamati, Bandarban and Patuakhali, and it may continue.
It also said rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning flashes are likely at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with isolated hailstorms.
Elsewhere in the country, the weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies temporarily.
Day temperatures may rise slightly, while night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
The highest temperature of 38 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jashore on Thursday.
The Met office added that a trough of low lies from West Bengal to the North Bay, influencing current weather conditions.
