Two first half strikes from Brazilian Miguel Ferreira steered Bashundhara Kings to a 2-0 victory over Swadhinota Krira Sangha in the TVS Bangladesh Premier League football at the Muktijuddah Smriti Stadium Rajshahi yesterday.

Barazilian forward Miguel Ferreira struck twice to beat the Swadhinotoa KS at their home ground.

It was very much important match for the reigning champions Bashundhara, when they tasted the lone defeat to Swadhinota KS in their first meetings and the favourites did not take any mistake on the day to down the minnows.

The newly promoted in the Premier League, Swadhinota KS are the most bottom sides in the points table but they set out on the top flight with a stunning victory over the reigning champions Bashundhara Kings.

Not only that, Swahinota KS also forced Abahani Limited to share points with a goalless draw in the first leg, hinted to become giants killers but could not continue the momentum and ultimately ended the first phase 12th place out of as many teams.

However, newly recruited Brazilian forward Miguel illustrated his class when he looked impressive in his debut match in Bangladesh football with striking two beautiful goals in the first half.

Kings were onset with attacking mood right from the first whistle could have at least 3-0 lead inside 20 minutes of the game but had to wait to make the break trough for half an hour.

After missing three chances in a row in a space of five minutes, Miguel Ferreira put Bashndhara  into lead with breaking the deadlock on 30th minute with a good header on Yasir Arafat cross (1-0).

The Brazilian, who caught sight of all with his remarkable movements, struck the second on 36th minute and this time it was really a class when Miguel was very sharp to send a Yasir Arafat cross into net with a right foot touch with a twinkle of an eye (2-0).

After the one-sided domination in the opening half, Oscar Bruzon brought a flurry of changes in the second half with fielding five fresh booters from the side bench but there was no more goal.

Swadhinota, who did not filed any of their newly recruited four foreign booters, playing with all local players, halted the stronger opponents not to increase the tally.

In the day’s other match at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadiun, Goplaganj, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club defeated Uttar Baridhara Club by 2-0 when their newly signed up Nigerian striker  duo Chijioke Alaekwe and Musa Tachi struck a piece for the  winners.
