Middle-class people crowd sidewalk stalls to buy winter clothes

With the onset of winter, middle and lower middle class people have started buying warm clothes from the sidewalk shops in Chapainawabganj.

Since the onset of winter, the sale of warm clothes has increased in the market stalls along with sidewalk shops. The sale of warm winter clothes has started at the shops in Food Office Mor, New Market Area, Bushwa Road Mor and Shaheed Satu Hall Complex area of Chapainawabganj town.

Moreover, vans have been seen selling worm clothes in winter in different parts of the city.

Crowds of shoppers have been noticed in these shops from 10 am till 6 pm everyday.

=Monirul Islam and Ali Hossain, sellers of warm clothes on the sidewalk, said that they have started selling woollen sweaters, jackets and blankets before the onset of winter.

At present, children's jackets and sweaters are being sold at Tk 100 to 150, adults 'sweaters and jackets at Tk 250 to 500 and girls' sweaters at Tk 400 to 500. Sellers claimed that the prices are within the reach of common buyers. Sumon Ali, another businessman said people from middle to low-income families usually buy clothes there.

Even if they have a large amount of goods, the sale is not as expected. However, sales are likely to increase, he added.
