The upazila administration has detained a microbus secretly carrying passengers from Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon to Dhaka.
At around 6pm on Saturday, the upazila administration of Kalomegh Sonadanga Lalapur area detained the microbus along with the passengers while they were secretly collecting about 20 passengers from different areas of Baliadangi upazila of the district and taking them to Dhaka.
It was learned that the locals detained the microbus while taking passengers on the Baliadangi to Thakurgaon highway in Kalomegh Sonadanga Lalapur area. Later, Baliadangi Upazila Executive Officer Khairul Alam Sumon was informed and he immediately rushed to the spot along with the police and arrested the driver of the microbus along with the vehicle.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Khairul Alam Sumon said the microbus was detained and kept at Baliadangi police station. The driver Jamal Hossain was given a 14-day institutional quarantine and the passengers were sent back to their respective homes.
The driver Jamal Hossain is a resident of Mohammadpur in Dhaka. He came to Birganj in Dinajpur with passengers from Dhaka 3 days ago. Later he came to Baliadangi to take some garment workers to Dhaka.
