Metro Uttara-Agargaon section All 9 stations to be functional from March

All nine stations of Dhaka Metro Rail from Uttara to Agargaon will be operational within the next month while the daily service hours would be extended from dawn to midnight from July, an official announcement said Thursday. 

The Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd MAN Siddique made the announcement while talking to the journalists. He also said that Metro Rail will be operated from Agargaon to Motijheel within next December.

He said, “The rest of the stations in the Uttara to Agargaon section will be operational within March. On the other hand the construction work of Agargaon to Motijheel section of Metro Rail is also progressing at a fast pace. Metro operation will start in this section also in December."

“After the launch of Metro Rail, more than 4 lakh passengers have benefitted the public transportation, and through this the income of the metro rail has been more than three crore,” Siddique added. 

The country's first Metro Rail started its journey in the capital on December 28. This service is now running from Uttara to Agargaon. Although there are a total of nine stations in this section, currently there is an opportunity to board the Metro Rail from three stations. 

However, on February 18 Uttara North station and on March 1, the station located in Mirpur 10 area is going to be operational. 

A total of 4 lakh 5 thousand passengers have travelled since the launch of Metro Rrail till 8th February. The income till now stood at Tk 3.10 crore. 

Now permanent pass can be collected for Metro Rail travel from 3 pm to 9 pm. MetroRail authorities also said that this pass can be collected from February 18 from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. 

Meanwhile, the overall civil works progress of Metro Rail Agargaon-Motijheel section is now over 92 percent as 88.22 percent installation work of electrical and mechanical system and rolling stock depot equipment collection has already been completed, according to DMTCL.
