In order to improve our city life, a noticeable number of development projects have been taken by the government over the last decade.

To serve commuters a smooth and hassle-free journey and transform Dhaka into a more orderly and sustainable city, the government and all the stakeholders are working earnestly to complete the construction of the metro rail within the shortest possible time.

We are told the capital city of Dhaka will enter the metro rail era next year as the construction work of metro rail and subway continues despite the coronavirus crisis. Despite the obstacles faced due to ongoing pandemic, the authorities have managed to keep the momentum unhindered.

It is satisfying to note that, with a view to completing the metro rail works from Diabari to Agargaon by the end of next year, massive construction work is going on in different portions of the metro rail project area.

Metro-rail will transform Dhaka into

a more active, commuter-friendly

and sustainable city

Once completed, the rail service, which has 16 stations, will be able to carry 60,000 passengers per hour, reducing travel time from Uttara to Motijheel to at least less than an hour from the current two.

After completion of this mega project, we hope that the city’s traffic jam will be reduced to a great extent and thus metro-rail will transform Dhaka into a more active, commuter-friendly and sustainable city.

We welcome the enthusiasm and efforts that have been shown and executed by the authorities concerned in order to connect entire Dhaka under metro-rail network.

We hope relevant authorities including Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTC) will continue the momentum of their cooperative efforts to finish the construction of the projects within the stipulated time.

We believe metro rail services will play the most effective role to reduce traffic congestion as well as air-pollution in Dhaka.
