Former MP Meraj Uddin Mollah and former MP Kazi Abdul Wadud Dara have been declared as the President and the General Secretary respectively of Rajshahi district Awami League following the triennial council of the party held at the District Shilpakala Academy on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier in the morning, the triennial council of the party was inaugurated at Divisional Women Sports Complex in Rajshahi by the AL Presidium Member and former Minister Mohammad Nasim as the chief guest. . In the council held in 2014 Omar Faruk Chowdhruy and Asaduzzaman Asad were elected as the President and the General Secretary of the party.
While addressing at the council, Mohammad Nasim said, AL will extreminate BNP-Jamaat politically. he asked the leaders and activists of the party to remained prepared for the final battle and said, only AL President Sheikh Hasina will be the winner in the battle against BNP-Jamaat.
Mohammd Nasim further said the conspiracy against a party is intensified when the party is on the threshold of success. Still there are conspiracies because BNP-Jamaat are still in the field. They are like poisonous snakes and whenever they got a chance, they will bite that is every one should remain alert. He added, the grassroots level leaders and activists are the power of AL. If these grassroots leaders and activists remain united, AL would win in any battle.
Blaming Ziaur Rahman as the planner of the murder of four National Leaders, Nasim said, Ziaur Rahman planned to kill four national leaders to make the country devoid of politics. Zia was the chief villain. Trial of Ziaur Rahman should be conducted by forming an Enquiry Committee. Joint Secretary of AL Jahangir Kabir Nanaok addressed the council as the chief speaker.
The coiuncil was attended and addressed, among others, by Organising Secretary of AL Khalid Mahmud Chowdhruy, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shariar Alam MP, AL Health and Population Afffairs Secretary Dr. Rokeya Sultana, RCC Mayor AHM Khariuzzaman Liton, Merina Jahan, Nurul Islam Thandu, Professor Dr. Abdul Khaleque and Professor Dr. Saidur Rahman Khan.
Former AL President Omar Faruk Chowdhury presided over the council while former General Secretary Asaduzzaman Asad and Organising Secretary Ahsanul Haque Masud conducted the conference and former AL President of Rajshahi Meraj Uddin Mollah MP delivered welcome speech at the function.
The council sessions were attended, among others, by Ayen Uddin MP, Dr. Monsur Rahman MP, Dr. Salim Uddin Ahmed Shimul MP, Adiba Anjum Meeta MP, Ferdousi Islam Jessi, Main Uddin Mondal, former state minister Zinatun Nessa Talukder, former MP Kazi Abdul Wadud Dara and MP Akhter Jahan.
