A memorial meeting on Dr Mozammel Hossain, later MP from Bagerhat-4 constituency and a former state minister for women and children affairs, was held is Bagerhat on Sunday.
Bagerhat district Awami League and associate bodies arranged the memorial meeting at the auditorium of Bagerhat Zila Parishad.
Mayor of Khulna City Corporation and Khulna city Awami League President Talukder Abdul Khaleque attended the function as the chief guest, while Bagerhat district Awami League general secretary Kamruzzaman Tuku, former MP Mir Shawkat Ali Badsha, Bagerhat Municipal Mayor Khan Habibur Rahman, former BCL president Badiuzzaman Sohag, AK Azad Feroz Tipu, Mahmud Hassan, Sheikh Firozul Islam and others were present there.
The speakers discussed from eventful life of Dr Mozammel Hossain. Later, a special prayer was offered seeking eternal peace of the late MP.
Dr Mozammel Hossain, also president of Bagerhat district unit Awami League, died in Dhaka due to old age complications on January 10. He was elected MP from Bagerhat-1 and 4 constituencies in 1991, 1996, 2008, 2014 and 2018.
He had been serving as the president of district unit Awami League since 1984.
