A few days ago, Bidya Sinha Mim, a popular actress of Dhaka cinema, said that she was offered a movie called 'Khufiya' by Vishal Bhardwaj, a famous Bollywood filmmaker.
However, Mim turned down the offer as the story allegedly do not represent Bangladesh’ political history properly.
The same thing happened with popular small screen actress Mehzabien Chowdhury. She was offered the same movie and also turned it down like Mim.
Mehzabien told the media that the movie offer was made to her through WhatsApp.
“I was approached by the casting director of famous Bollywood filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj,” she said. “Although I didn't believe it at the beginning, later I realized that they are looking for a Bangladeshi actress according to the storyline. Then I wanted to see the synopsis of the whole story”, she added.
“After learning the details, I said 'no' to the project, because it seemed to me that as a film it would raise some controversies. I didn't want to be involved in such a wrong political context in the first film of my life”, she further informed.
Mehzabien became the champion of the 2009 Lux Channel I Superstar competition. In over a decade of her career, she has taken herself to unique heights by acting in about 438 dramas.
