All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz is expecting sporting wickets in the upcoming 10th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T-20 tournament to kick off tomorrow.

Other than the surface of the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, the wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur and Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in the country’s lone T-20 extravaganza have barely been batting-friendly since the tournament’s inception in 2012.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials did not put across their comments even regarding the difficult wickets and told nothing about of improvements.

Mehidy Hassan Miraz, who will play for Fortune Barishal in this season, highly expected that the wickets would be sporting.

The national team all-rounder said, “We always expect to play on good wickets. If the current chilly conditions will continue, wickets may behave roughly and if the condition would be changed the wickets will turned good and both the batters and bowlers will equally benefited.”

In most of the previous editions of BPL, the authority was criticized very often due to uneven and unsporting wickets.

Meanwhile, there were huge controversies with the failures of providing the DRS system during the competitions.

However, this time the BPL governing council has ensured to provide proper technology from the beginning of the competition.

“It is really very good that there will be DRS. But earlier, in a few versions of BPL, there were many things unavailable from the beginning. But this time DRS will be available from the first day,” said the all-rounder.

Miraz, 26-year-old further encouraged his international teammates to perform well in the domestic competition as it is the ideal platform to prepare for the upcoming T-20 World Cup scheduled to start on June 1.

“I hope the players from the national team will perform well ahead of our World Cup mission,” he said.

“It is really great that the BPL is going to be staged ahead of the World Cup as we will have a good chance to take good preparation. Playing in such a tournament ahead of the World Cup would provide us huge opportunities. It will be easy to perform better in the World Cup if we execute well here,” Mehidy expressed.
