Meherpur students demand better Editorial and Educational topics

Shakirul Islam, an honours fourth-year student of Bangla Department of Meherpur Government College, said that ‘Bangladesh Post’ with its lucid, comprehensive language, is playing an important role in the development of positive thinking in society. Unlike other newspapers, the Bangladesh Post is always working to accelerate the government's progress. Not only through the news but also with its articles and features, the newspaper is also playing a leading role in the spread of education.

That was the overall observation by a graduate-level students in a meeting with Bangladesh Post Correspondent at Meherpur Government College premises on Monday.

Shakirul Islam added Bangladesh Post is serving quality news to the readers. Along with the news, the newspaper is also meeting the demand for English education. However, he suggested the newspaper should improve its Opinion and Editorial pages to make it more acceptable to the readers including the students.

Shanta Khatun, a fourth-year student of the Economics department, said that most of the subscribers of the English newspapers are the students of the country. Besides news, the English newspaper is one of the major mediums of English practice. Bangladesh Post is meeting these needs of the students.

Seeking further improvement of the Education Page, Shanta Khatun said English is a must in various job tests as well as in the academic exams in the country. English newspapers can meet the need of students. By improving the Education Page of Bangladesh Post for English practices in preparation for the various examinations including the recruitment tests, the newspaper would play an important role for job seekers as well.  

Fourth-year student of Economics department Tasmi Khatun said English education is very important in the current era. And there is no substitute of English newspapers for English practices. Bangladesh Post can be used as substitute for such practices.

She said the importance of newspapers for making various assignments is immense. Students will be benefitted a lot if Bangladesh Post publishes more special reports to benefit the students to cover their assignments.

Fourth-year student of Economics Department Sadid Ahmed said, Bangladesh Post regularly writes about Economics. As a result, the students are benefitted greatly.

Antara Khatun, a student of Bangla Department said, various reports on Bangla culture was published in the Cultural Affairs page in Bangladesh Post. Those reports help students to make sense of the culture.

Students of Economics department Sadid Ahmed, Nuruzzaman Nahid, Tasami Khatun, Shamima Akter, Santa Khatun, Rozab Ali, Faruk Hossain, fourth-year students of Bangla department Sakirul Islam, Antara Khatun, Champa Khatun, a first-year student of the Physics department of Chuadanga Govt. College Habibur Rahman attended in the student meeting with the Bangladesh Post.
