AKM Enamul Haque Shameem, deputy minister for water resources and former organizing secretary of the Awami League, said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina challenged the World Bank building the Padma Bridge with her own funds. The Meghna Bridge will be built by her efforts as well. If the Meghna Bridge is constructed on the Shariatpur-Chandpur route, direct road connectivity will be established with 22 districts of Khulna and Barisal divisions in the south-western part of the country, four districts of Sylhet and 11 districts of Chittagong division.
In addition, it will be possible to reduce the time for transporting goods by road between the three seaports. This will have a huge positive impact on the country's economy. If the Meghna Bridge is built, the country's economy will be much richer.
He made the comments while talking to reporters after inspecting the Meghna River near Alur Bazar in Sakhipur upazila of Shariatpur on Friday.
Deputy Minister Shamim said, “Harina Ferry Ghat in Chandpur on one end of Meghna Bridge and Alubazar Ferry Ghat in Vedharganj Upazila of Shariatpur on the other end. The distance between the two ferries is 10 kms. If the bridge is built, it will not only benefit Chandpur and Shariatpur, it will revolutionize the economy and communication system in the whole country.”
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu, does what is good for Bangladesh. Bangladesh will be transformed into a prosperous Bangladesh under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, he added.
Enamul Haque Shameem further said, “Due to the strong and strong leadership of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, ignoring all the conspiracies, the dream Padma Bridge was built with its own funds and now the movement of vehicles is a matter of time.”
“The Meghna Bridge will also be built this time under the courageous leadership of Sheikh Hasina. Therefore, the government has started the preliminary survey work of the Meghna Bridge with the help of a Spanish expert organization at a cost of Tk 243 crore.

It may be mentioned that AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, after becoming the Deputy Minister as MP, submitted a proposal for the Meghna Bridge in the first session of the National Parliament on March 10, 2019. The government has also appointed six consulting firms to conduct feasibility studies and prepare a master plan for the construction of the Meghna Bridge. The work of 4 points of the 9 point survey of Meghna river has been completed. Work on the remaining 5 points will be completed by next June.

Earlier, he inaugurated new buildings of various educational institutions in Sakhipur upazila and presided over the meeting of the governing body of Haji Shariatullah University College. At the end, Deputy Minister Enamul Haque Shamim will join the iftar mahfil organized by Sakhipur Thana Awami League.
