As reported by this daily on Saturday, construction of four major communication infrastructures including the Padma Bridge, Metro Rail, Elevated Expressway and Bangabandhu Tunnel will be completed by June 2022. Reportedly, work on the four mega projects  is progressing at a rapid pace.

Never before in the history of Bangladesh a government could even dream of undertaking such massive projects, involving thousands of crores of taka. However, earlier, due to various obstacles, including Covid-19, funds crunch, and faulty design, most of the projects could not be materialised within the stipulated time frame.

Sustainable economic growth of a

country depends on its sustainable

infrastructure development

Experts are of the opinion that when these projects are completed, the picture of the country's economy will change. The people of the country will step into the modern communications system by being connected to the international road and rail network.

These projects will not only ease communication but will also fuel the country's economic growth. Sustainable economic growth of a country depends on its sustainable infrastructure development. And to this effect it is worth mentioning that the present government has been working to change the socio-economic conditions of the people through undertaking these projects.

We are happy to note that the work of the four much-hyped mega projects are well underway and are expected to be completed within the next two years. When completed, we might see some key transformations in the country’s communication sector while traffic pressure in project areas will be reduced and ultimately trade and tourism will be immensely benefited. It needs no mentioning that successful implementation of all the mega projects will have the desired effect on the economy of the country and in order to do that sincere and coordinated efforts of all the stakeholders is a must.
