Meeting called off in face of AL activists’ protest

Controversial Satkhira Sadar Upazila Awami League's extended meeting, organised disobeying the central directives of Awami League was called off at the face of protest from party leaders and activists.

An extended meeting of the outlawed Satkhira Sadar Upazila Awami League was convened on Sunday at the District Shilpakala Academy auditorium in defiance of Awami League's central directives.

Awami League announced a 15-member committee at the central committee conference. The general secretary and vice-president of this committee allegedly without informing the other 13 members, included members of Jamaat-BNP and accused in multiple sabotage cases in the Sadar Upazila Awami League in exchange for money. 

Sadar Upazila Awami League senior vice-president Freedom Fighter Md. Shahidul Islam was not made the acting president but an incompetent person who had opposed the party's boat symbol for three times was made the acting president. That is why the protest took place in Sadar Upazila Awami League. 

When, vice-president Md. Shahidul Islam lodged a written complaint in this regard, the central committee called Satkhira district Awami League president over phone and asked him to stop all activities of the controversial Sadar Upazila Awami League committee until verification.

Leaders and activists of Sadar Upazila Awami League and Union Awami League boycotted the extended meeting, held disobeying the instructions of Central Awami League committee.
