Zakat Welfare Foundation organised a discussion on Zakat Management in Mirdhapara of Jamalpur recently. Chanwar Hossain, Mayor of Jamalpur municipality was present on the occasion as the chief guest.
Zakat Welfare Foundation, Jamalpur District Branch president F A H Md Yusuf, general secretary of the district branch. Zakat Welfare Foundation Central Committee Director and Head of Shariah Mufti Abu Bakr Siddique, Executive Director SM Al Amin Faizi, Director Muhammad Shahidul Islam FCMA, President of Jamalpur Online Journalist Network and Editor of Banglarchithi.com Jahangir Salim, among others, spoke in the meeting, moderated by Shah Newaz Islam.
At the end of the meeting, a memento was given to the guests, zakat money was distributed to 10 poor people and iftar items were distributed to the pedestrians.
Speakers talked about plans to break the tradition of using zakat money to spend on productive sectors or invest in things like making the poor self-reliant.
Besides, they expressed their hope that Zakat Foundation will take effective initiatives by taking up projects related to poverty alleviation.
