Dear carnivores, gone are the days when the thought of making a single trip to a fancy steakhouse with your loved ones would almost always end up with you having to break the bank in order to indulge into your favourite cut of red meat. Butcher’s, a promising newbie in town is here with the promise of serving that succulent red juicy piece of happiness at only a microscopic fraction of cost while associating with quality steaks.

Tanvir Hassan Akanto, the owners of Butcher’s said, “Steak lovers are known to scour restaurant after restaurant for that perfect piece of succulent meat, grilled to perfection. As lovers of this divine culinary creation, we wanted to be that neighbourhood steakhouse that does justice to the food.” The ambiance is surely out of the box when compared to other Dhaka eating joints, but very apt and common when we think about chophouses.

Located at Urban Void food court, it is open air, covered on top with asbestos, with rustic coarse-looking chairs and tables, clearly giving that vintage artsy look. The overall ambiance is very close to a country ranch eating joint with the woody warmth filled in all the nooks and corners with impeccable attentive staff.

Now, coming to the crux of the matter – lets discuss about the food and beverage. To start with, Butcher’s Secret Fish N’ Chips (BDT 450) was prepared from white dori fish. The fish was scrumptious and spicy and I got strips of delicious meat, caked in a crunchy batter. It was tender and flaky the way it should be. The batter was thin and crispy with just the right flavour. The chips were crunchy outside and fluffy inside and loaded with proper potato earthy essence.
Signature Steaks (BDT 620) was comprised of 180gm of meat with two sides of sautéed vegetables and silky smooth mashed potatoes and Worcestershire bbq sauce. The brown, buttery piece of heaven was packed full of meaty flavour and dripping with juices. The thick, crunchy edge and juicy interior was no less than a feast for me.

The crisp tender Lemon Butter Chicken (BDT 290) was darn delicious. This savoury meal was just over the top! Full of flavour, every bite is unforgettable. The punch of the lemon juice with fresh spices paired perfectly with the tender juicy chicken. For smaller appetites, I opted for the meaty succulent Hot Tangy Wings (BDT 150), golden crispy Butchers Secret Fish Crumbs (BDT 220) and super crunchy Hand-Cut Wedges (BDT 70).

Loved their shakes and mocktails as well. The Dark Foreplay (BDT 120), Fresher (BDT 120) and Scarlet Pleasure (BDT 120) had the perfect blend of mint, lemon and strawberry flavours that instantly rejuvenated my senses. Strawberry flavoured. The frothy Frosty Cappuccino (BDT 199) was a spectacular sweet mocha treat.

Well, steakhouses are here to stay and this place is just the trendsetter within a budget. All in one, it was a good decision to satisfy my sudden hunger pang! A must visit place to eat and enjoy in a totally Texas style.
