Medicine stores, hotel fined in Kotchandpur

Jhenaidah district marketing monitoring team conducted drives and fined medicine stores in Kotchandpur town of the district on Monday. The drive was jointly conducted by upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) at Kotchandpur and assistant director of the directorate of national consumer rights protection to warn the drug sellers to refrain from preserving and selling date expired and fake medicines.

Assistant director (AD) of the directorate of national consumer rights protection (DNCRP) in Jhenaidah Suchandan Mandal, said some dishonest drug sellers have been preserving and selling date expired and fake medicines ignoring the life and money of the innocent people. 

The team members as a part of their market monitoring activities had advised the drug store owners to refrain from preserving and selling date expired and fake medicines, the team led by UNO Asaduzzaman Ripon and himself had swooped on fined Taka 20 thousand to Ayub pharmacy at Kotchandpur when the drug store owner was allegedly selling date expired and physicians’ sample drugs. He also was preserving an ethical drug in a syringe procuring it from an ample.

Monitoring team fined Taka eight thousand through a mobile court to Germany Hotel for their hotel business in a dirty environment. The team also fined Taka five thousand to Nabila Pharmacy and another Taka eight thousand to Abdul Jalil Pharmacy for the same allegation. The team had visited a total of eight business establishments during the time, DNCRP AD said.

AD Suchandan Mandal informed they had warned all the drug store owners to remove any type of date expired and other unauthorized drugs within seven days, other wise to go tougher without further notice for a clan medicine business to save the lives of th people at any cost, they warned.

Mohammad Maniruzzaman, upazila sanitary inspector at Kotchandpur and a team of police forces from the district headquarters have assisted during the drives, It will continue as per the direction of the directorate.
