Medicine shop fined Tk 2 lakh in Jhenaidah

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection and the elite forces Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) 6 in Jhenaidah conducted a joint drive in a medicine shop at Chariarbeal area under Shailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah and fined the owner of the shop taka two lakh.
The fine was imposed when the drug store owner possessed unauthorized, contra banned and fake medicines in the shop. He was also allegedly selling some of the drugs at a higher rate among the customers.
RAB 6 company commander in Jhenaidah Sohel Parvez said that acting on a tip off the officials of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection and RAB conducted a mobile court in Sumona Medical Store at Chariarbeal Bazer owned by some Kudrat Hossain in the noon that continued for four hours.
The mobile court found huge contra banned, authorized, fake and date expired medicines in the medicine store. They were also selling some of the drugs at a higher rate than the fixed prices.
The court fined an amount of Taka two lakh under The Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.
