Volunteer medical technologists in Faridpur formed human chain program in front of Faridpur Press Club on Sunday demanding implementation of the assurance given by the Prime Minister.
Volunteer Medical Technologists Md. Akhter Hossain, Md. Ifte Khairul Mamun, Md. Didarul Islam, Md. Shahidul Islam, Md. Jasim Uddin and others spoke in the hour-long human chain program.
Speakers at the time said the crisis for these medical technologists arose when patients began to be tested by collecting samples after the outbreak of corona. Then, in response to the call of the Hon'ble Prime Minister, in the interest of the country and the world, we, the medical technologists, voluntarily engage in the collection of corona samples.
In this work we did not have any TA, DA did not have any salary allowance. We have done this at our own expense.
Those who worked in the PCR lab stayed in quarantine for fourteen days after working seven days. But we could not stay. The Prime Minister was pleased with the contribution of all these volunteer medical technologists and assured us of permanent appointment.
In the meantime, several medical technologists have been appointed in two successive phases by the executive order of the President, but these volunteer medical technologists from Faridpur are still neglected.
Those of us who were affected by corona did not get any incentive from any government or non-government organization at that time. On the other hand, if any government official is affected by corona, they have got all the benefits of the government.
No clinic is giving us a job as we are engaged in collecting corona samples. It is difficult for us to survive now. Today, if the government does not take the responsibility of these volunteers nationally, then there will be no limit to our suffering.
Our only demand to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is to help these volunteer medical technologists to live a better life by implementing the assurance she has given.
