Media wing of police rescues abducted drug addicts

Media and Publication Wing of the Police Headquarters on Sunday initiated to rescue an abducted drug addict who was abducted while taking drugs at Begumganj Upazila in Noakhali.

Talking to the Bangladesh Post on Sunday, Mir Sohel Rana, Assistant Inspector General of Media and Public Relations of the Police Headquarters confirmed it.

Recently a young drug addict, hailing from Begumganj of Noakhali district, sent a message to the police using the official Facebook page of the Bangladesh Police, claiming that he was kidnapped. He also alleged that kidnappers took ransom from his family.

Getting the information , Media and Public Relations Wing instructed police unit concerned to investigate and take necessary steps in this connection. 

During the primary interrogation,  Begumganj police came know that the victim was drug addict. He was abducted while taking drugs at Begumganj in Noakhali district.

During the incident, victim’s cousin, who  went to take drugs, was also abducted.

After making the victim and his cousin hostage, the abductors forcibly took them to a room and tortured them for ransom.

The abductors also snatched money and other valuables from them. They continued torturing them to get more ransom from the family of the victims.

At one stage, their family members paid Tk 45,000 to the abductors and got the victims back.

Getting primary evidences, police personnel of Begumganj Police Station conducted a raid and arrested abductors Antor, Nayeem, Roni, Showkat and Rockey.

A case was filed in this connection.

At the same time, victims have been also warned not to take drugs in future.

They were also advised to go to rehabilitation centre to get rid of drug addiction.
