Measures to fight crimes discussed

The monthly meeting of district Law and Order Committee held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Jamalpur town on Monday with   DC Md  Shafiur Rahman (DC) in the chair.

Additional Superintendent of Police Masood Anwar, Civil Surgeon Doctor Pranay Kanti Das, Additional District Executive Hakim Shitesh Chandra Sarkar, Assistant Director of Jamalpur General Hospital Doctor Mahfuzur Rahman, Deputy Director of NSI Borhan Uddin, District Awami League, among others participated in the discussion.  

Vice President Syed Atiqur Rahman Chana, freedom fighter Sujayat Ali Fakir, President of Jamalpur Press Club Hafiz Raihan Sada, President of Jamalpur District Press Club Lawyer Yusuf Ali, Journalist MA Jalil, General Secretary of District Anti-Corruption Committee and Director of Human Resource Department of Development Association Jahangir Salim and others were present. 

Executive officers of 7 upazilas, heads of relevant government offices of the district, NGO representatives and other members, were also present.

The speakers dwelt on several important matters including - rehabilitation of hawkers, control of easy bikes, stopping of post-election violence, curbing of reckless motorcycling, control of commodity prices, banning of black market of train tickets, ensuring safety of rail crouching, establishment of drug, congestion free city and creation of peaceful environment. 

The meeting arrived at a decision to reduce deaths in road accidents recently, along with eviction of illegal establishments, establishment of separate market for hawkers, control of drugs, violence against women, children, rape and all anti-social activities were promised to stop.  

All pledged to take collective initiative to create social awareness against sexual violence.  Besides, strict measures were demanded to stop illegal sand extraction, control of easy bikes, prevention of drugs, child marriage, control of commodity prices.  Gratitude was expressed to all concerned including the district administration for playing a role in the peaceful and festive atmosphere of the Jatiya Sangsad elections.  It was also decided to take multi-dimensional activities to improve the overall law and order situation including establishing a clean city.
