Measles-Rubella campaign covers 622,887 children in Jashore

National Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign will begin at eight upazilas of Jashore district on Saturday (December 12) and it will be continue until January 24 next year.

A total of  6,22,887 children of 9 months to 10 years age group will be vaccinated Measles-Rubella doze in Sadar, Monirampur, Keshabpur, Jhikorgacha, Chaugacha, Sarsha, Abhaynagar and Bagherpara upazilas of the district.

On the occasion, a press briefing was held at the conference of Jashore 250-bed General Hospital on Wednesday. 

Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Abu Shahin delivered welcome speech narrating about the importance of providing to Measles-Rubella single doze injection every 9 months to 10 years age children to prevent various diseases for healthier growth. 

Saying that the Measles-Rubella single doze injection have no side effect, he asked the parents not to become afraid and contact the health officials concerned if their babies would show any other problems after injected Measles-Rubella single doze injection. He also called upon the parents to bring all children selected centres from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. 

He also called upon the parents, teachers, public representatives, civil society members and media persons to make the upcoming Measles-Rubella campaign successful.

Meanwhile, another  press briefing was held at conference room of Narail Civil Surgeon office on Thursday. Narail Civil surgeon Dr Md Abdul Momen presided over the meeting while Dr Syed Shafiq Tamal, Narail Press Club president Enamul Kabir Tuku, former vice-president Sultan Mahmood, health department official Mollah Forkan Ali, district EPI superintendent Haradhan Chandra Majumder among others were present on the occasion. 

Civil Surgeon office sources said, under the programme, the health department adequate measures to provide Measles-Rubella injection to 9 months to 10 years age 1, 60,122 children in sadar, Lohagora and Kalia upazilas of the district. Of them 44,027 children were injected in Narail sadar upazila,52, 615 children in Lohagora upazila, 44,296 children in Kalia upazila,13, 533 children in Narail Municipality and 5, 651 children in Kalia Municipaly areas. Nurses and health workers under the district to make the programme successful.
