Nihad Kabir, Barrister-at-Law, Senior Partner, Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed & Associates has been re-elected as the President of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI) for the term of 2020.
Members of the Chamber’s Committee for the year 2020 unanimously re-elected her as the President at its meeting held recently, which was formally approved at the 115th Annual General Meeting of the MCCI held on Thursday.
Ms. Nihad Kabir is an advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. She is a Director and Shareholder of Kedarpur Tea Co. Ltd., a leading tea company of the country and shareholder of the Sangbad Limited, which publishes the Daily Sangbad, the oldest Bangla daily newspaper published in the country.
She is also a Director of Brac Bank Limited, Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL), bKash, Guardian Life Insurance Limited and Independent Director of Square Pharmaceuticals Limited and Square Textiles Limited as well as the Chairperson of BRAC EPL Investments Limited and BRAC EPL Stock Brokerage Limited.
Anis A. Khan, Director of W&W Grains Corporation has been elected as the Vice-President.
Prior to joining W&W Grains Corporation, Anis A. Khan was the Managing Director and CEO of Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTB), the Managing Director and CEO of IDLC Finance Ltd.
A career banker, Khan earlier served in the then Grindlays Bank Ltd., ANZ Grindlays Bank and Standard Chartered Bank. He was the Chairman of Primary Dealer Bangladesh Ltd. and the Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors, Association of Bankers, Bangladesh.
Khan was also a member, Board of Governors of Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management. He also served as the Vice-President of MCCI for 2014 and 2015.
