Allegedly, the plaintiff's family in the murder case filed after a man’s death during a clash regarding land dispute in Amosh village of Pabna's Santhia municipality, is being threatened by accused party in various ways.
Shima, 32, wife of the deceased Enamul, said that the accused had been threatening my family on the phone and through other people. They are threatening her to settled the case in exchange of money to escape the lawsuit.
Even, the accused have threatened Shima's brother Mozam on the phone saying that if needed they will file a counter-murder case by killing the injured person of their side.
Kabir, an Honors first year student of Pabna Edward University, son of the deceased Enamul, said, "Even though the police kept us informed, they have not been able to arrest the accused so far while, Mayor Mirajul Islam took charge of the accused belongings”.
A case was filed with Santhia Police Station in connection to the murder on August 11 but the accused fled their houses. However, while absconding, the accused handed over their cows to the Santhia municipal mayor through people, feering looting. Mayor Mirajul Islam is now taking care of 45 cows and 15 of their calves in his house.
The main accused Bablu's daughter Sultana Khatun said, "When everyone in the house fled away after the case was filed, we feared looting of the cows. Later we called the mayor and handed over the cows of ours and other accused to him”.
Visiting the village of Amosh on Monday afternoon, it was seen that the accused had locked their houses and fled and their relatives are now guarding the houses.
Santhia Municipal Mayor Mirajul Islam Pramanik said, the relatives of the accused handed over the cows left by them fearing loot. When the situation in the area calms down, the cows will be handed over to their owners.
Officer-in-charge of Santhia Police Station Asaduzzaman said a murder case has been filed with the police station. Efforts are being made to arrest the accused. Police patrols are continuing to ensure security in the area.
Enamul, son of Tafiz Sheikh, died on August 11 while undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Hospital after getting injured in a bloody clash over land dispute in Amosh village on August 1.
