Mayor aspirants for Chuadanga Municipality have become active since the mayoral polls are weeks away.
Leaders of Awami League, BNP, Islami Andalon Bangladesh (IAB) and some other parties began lobbying within their parties to get support, while they are also taking part in mass contact ahead of the elections likely to be held in last week of January or the first week of February in 2021.
Tarek Ahamed, District Election Officer, told the Bangladesh Post that election schedule would be declared soon. Tenure of the existing parishad will terminate on February 3 in 2021.
It is learnt that the present parishad of Chuadanga Pourasabha will complete their journey on February 3 in 2021. As candidatures of the candidates in election have been showing and introducing themselves among people and professional community.
Reajul Islam Joarder Toton, former mayor and joint secretary of district Awami League, Obaydur Rahman Chowdhury Jipu, Convener of District Sechchhasebok League and existing mayor, Shorif Hasan Dudu, Jubo League leader have been introducing themselves among people of the pourasabha as mayor candidates.
On the other hand, Mojibul Hoque Malik Mojo, joint convener of district BNP, Monjurul Jahid, joint convener of district Sechchhasebok Dal declared themselves as mayor candidates for contesting the next poura election.
Muhammad Tusar Imran of Islami Andalan Bangladesh will contest as mayor candidate in the poura election, party sources added.
Reajul Islam Joarder Toton discussed through several meetings as mayor candidate with local journalists, business community, drivers of different vehicles, hindu community, NGO personnel, owners of furniture shops, leaders and activists of different ward Awami League of poura areas.
He is a dedicated and dynamic leader. His political activities, socio works and good communication with people and different project oriented organizations are known to all, said an inhabitant of Chuadanga Poura area.
Obaydur Rahman Chowdhury Jipu has been contacting to inhabitants of poura areas for contesting as mayor candidate in the next election.
He said at different gatherings, if he elects in the next election, he will complete the unfinished works.
Shorif Hasan Dudu has been presenting himself as a mayor candidate among the voters.
Some inhabitants of the poura areas said that Toton is the most popular candidate till now. They hope he gets nomination from awamileague in the election of pourasabha. On the other hand, Jipu seeks to get nomination from Awami League.
Mojibul Hoque Malik Mojo said he would like to contest in the next poura election as mayoral post. No poster is seen in the poura areas.
