May 17 was in fact the return of liberation war spirit: Hasan

Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Joint General Secretary of Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud said that 41 years ago on 17 May, it was not just the return of Sheikh Hasina to her homeland. It was the return of the spirit of liberation war, the fire of democracy and the return of development progress.

He made the comments while addressing a discussion meeting of the Awami League on the occasion of the 42nd historic return home of the Prime Minister on May 17 at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in Agargaon on Tuesday . Awami League presidium member Begum Matia Chowdhury presided over the special meeting.

Dr Hasan Mahmud said, “Bangladesh has changed under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina for the last 41 years. The fate of every human being has changed in the last 13 years. The conspiracy has started again as this unprecedented improvement is not being tolerated, BNP-Jamaat is peeking out of the hole and trying to create chaos.

Expressing his conviction to the leaders and workers, he said, "On the occasion of Sheikh Hasina's Homecoming Day, I would like to say, we have not stepped into tthe field yet, we will come down if necessary. If anyone wants to create chaos, we will resist them.”

The minister said, "Despite all the adversities, Sheikh Hasina, who has always stood by the people of the country, has established Bangladesh as a dignified state at a new height by elevating it from a low-income to a middle-income country and from a food deficit to a surplus country."

But the BNP-Jamaat, their allies and some intellectuals do not like this development progress. That is why when the whole world praises, they cannot praise, but in their words it seems that the country has given ten hands, which is the opposite of reality, he added.

"The remarks of Begum Zia and Mirza Fakhrul are still circulating on social media that the Awami League government will not be able to build the Padma Bridge. However, now, the Prime Minister will inaugurate it and we are eagerly waiting. I am wondering whether Fakhrul Saheb will cross the Padma Bridge. If they are ashamed, they can cross the Padma Bridge to apologize to the people,” said the minister.

The tears of joy after getting Hasina was a strong insult to the killers of Bangabandhu. By welcoming Sheikh Hasina, nature seemed to have informed: the days of conspirators, assassins of Bangabandhu are over, added the minister.
