Visiting Mauritius President PrithvirajsingRoopun on Thursday paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his portrait at Dhanmondi Road No. 32 in the capital.
SaimaWazed, Bangabandhu's granddaughter and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's daughter, received the Mauritius president on his arrival at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum on Thursday afternoon.
After placing of wreaths, SaimaWazed took PrithvirajsingRoopun to different parts of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum containing various belongings and portraits of Bangabandhu and his family members.
The Mauritius president was apprised of the bloodstained history of the birth of Bangladesh and Bangabandhu's life and struggle.
He also paid homage to the memories of the martyr family members of Bangabandhu who were brutally killed on August 15, 1975.
Later, the Mauritius president wrote his comments in the visitors' book.
Earlier in the morning today, PrithvirajsingRoopun arrived in Dhaka on a four-day official visit to join the 'Sixth Indian Ocean Conference 2023' hosted by Bangladesh as well as bilateral programmes.
