Bangabandhu and Bangladesh are synonymous. One cannot be separated from the other. The Pakistani rulers wanted to suppress the voice of Bengalis but this was not possible because of the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Liberation War Affairs’ Minister AKM Mozammel Huq came up with the observation while addressing a discussion and dua mahfil titled ‘Bangabandhu and Bangladesh’ on Wednesday.
Shipping Ministry organised the event at the National Museum in Dhaka marking the 44th death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day, said a press release. He also said “Bangabandhu was a great leader. He has given us an independent country and constitution. Direct killers of Bangabandhu have been tried. Masterminds behind the killing will be tried, too.”
State minister of Shipping and organizing secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury presided over the meeting, the release added. Among others, Professor Anisuzzaman, president of standing committee on Ministry of Shipping Major (Retd) Rafiqul Islam and secretary of Ministry of Shipping Md. Abdus Samad spoke at the meeting.
