Mass media should present govt’s achievements: Hasan

Minister of Information and Broadcasting Hasan Mahmud said the media should inform the people that the country is moving forward. If information is not served correctly in mass media, people get confused.

We often see that the media magnifies the small issues, while the important issues are not shown. The work of the media is not to do politics. It can be seen that the achievements of the government are placed on the third page, and Anti- development news of the government is being spread on the first page.

He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of daily new Asha newspaper at Jahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of Jatiya Press Club on Thursday (September 29). Hasan Mahmud said, 'People should be kept optimistic. If the nation is disappointed, it will not be able to face the challenges and move forward.

Calling on the progress of the people and the progress of the state to be highlighted in the media, he said, "I would request that the achievements of the nation should come up in the media."

Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud said, "The media has a role in establishing the foundation of a multi-dimensional democratic social system. So whatever needs to be done in the development of media, the government is doing that. The journey of private television started in 1996 during the first regime of Sheikh Hasina. Out of the 44 approved TV channels in the country, 32 private television channels are operating.

Bangladesh was a less developed country, from there Bangladesh is in this position today. Women footballers are champions. Each of their footballers has emerged from the Bangamata Football Tournament. They also said that they have come to play Bangmata football.

Journalist Welfare Trust has been formed for journalists where journalists are being supported. Arrangements are being made to support the children of poor journalists for their education.
