Coronavirus pandemic has emerged as a curse to the world and Bangladesh is not an exception. The decision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government to bring all Bangladeshis under vaccination programme is very time-befitting and deserves plaudits.
As the coronavirus outbreak quickly surges worldwide, many countries are adopting non-therapeutic preventive measures, which include travel bans, remote office activities, lockdown, and most importantly, social distancing.
According to WHO and government health guidelines, people should wear facemasks while going out of their houses, people should out of their houses, people should avoid mass gathering, healthy foods should be kept in regular food menu to boost immunity, people should wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, people should cover their mouth with tissue or elbow while coughing or sneezing. Most importantly, people should get vaccinated to combat the deadly coronavirus.
The health experts have opined that there is no alternative of ensuring Covid-19 vaccines for everyone. They also suggested following the health guidelines to stop the spread of the virus.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has recently said, “The authorities concerned have been instructed to inoculate the people massively with Covid-19 vaccines to ensure protection of all.”
She reiterated her vow to spend as much money as required to purchase the required doses of vaccines to make sure that none remains out of the inoculation.
“We will produce vaccines in the future so that the people of the country face no more difficulties,” she added.
The government is going to expand the outreach of vaccinations to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Bangladesh is going to strengthen its mass vaccination campaign as the immunisation drive will run in each district from today (Saturday).
Bangladesh has a stock of 1.23 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine. More vaccines will be received from other countries soon.
Some 4,416,131 people have fully been vaccinated with two shots while 10,009,953 people have received the first doses, according to the health directorate.
The country has so far experienced 22,150 deaths and 1,335,260, infections due to the deadly coronavirus.
The global Covid-19 caseload is now nearing the grim milestone of 201 million, as the highly contagious Delta variant continues to devastate several countries.
Countries with more than four million cases include Russia, France, Britain, Turkey, Argentina, Colombia, Spain, Italy and Iran, while those with over 100,000 deaths include India, Mexico, Peru, Russia, Britain, Italy, Colombia and France. The global caseload reached the grim milestone of 100 million on January 26, and doubled in more than half a year this Thursday.
