Mass Covid vaccination kicks off at DEPZ

Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ) authority has started a mass vaccination drive to vaccinate a total of 85 thousand Ready Made Garment (RMG) workers, who works in the factories under DEPZ, in cooperation of local govt. health complex, at DEPZ of Ashulia in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital.

Dr Abu Hussain Md. Moinul Ahsan, Civil Surgeon of Dhaka district on Sunday, inaugurated the vaccination program before DEPZ Hospital, while Dr. Sayemul Huda, Upazila health and family planning officer, Abdus Sobhan, General Manager of Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ),  Colonel Dr. Siddique Ahmed (Retired), Chief Medical Officer of DEPZ Hospital were present at the time.

DEPZ sources said around a thousand workers get COVID Jabs on the first day of this program, its targets to vaccinate a total of 85 thousand workers of 97 factories under DEPZ periodically. Bangladesh Post talked to several workers who get jabs on the day and most said they were happy to get such an opportunity and thanked authority to arranging the program. 

Dr Abu Hussain Md. Moinul Ahsan, the Civil Surgeon said, they are organizing such a drive to ensure COVID-19 jabs for all even at root level. As DEPZ is a highly populated area, many workers still could not take COVID vaccine as most of the time they engaged in work, so we took this initiative considering their issues, and its will save working time as well.
