Marufa eyes to clinch three-match series

The three-match ODI series between Bangladesh national women’s cricket team their Irish counterpart on Thursday at Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium Mirpur.

Both the host Bangladesh and the visitors also play three-match T20I series following the OIDI series at the same ground. 

But the ODI series very much important and the Tigress will have to win the series to play the World Cup directly.

Meanwhile, the team’s pace spearhead Marufa Akhtar said, “Our preparation is going well. Our target is to win all three matches. We are training seriously to fulfil their goal. and we will try our best to make it success. There is no options left for us but to win the Series to make room in the World Cup and it’s our main goal.”

Marufa also said that winning against Ireland won’t be an easier task given the improvement the visitors showed over the years.

“They are an improved side and here to fight for winning the series also. We know they are good side so we are preparing according to that,” Marufa said. 

“Our training has been good so far. Since the World Cup is coming up and we need to win six matches in row, we are preparing ourselves that way.”

Earlier, the Bangladesh women demonstrated well against India in their home series, but could not performed well in Australia. 

The Ireland women cricket team is better than Bangladesh in terms of experience and skills. Many of their players play county cricket regularly. However, Marufa does not consider it a big problem. She said, “Although I have no experiences of playing against Ireland, but I will try to play good cricket.”

Meanwhile, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur praised Marufa a lot after their three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. “It’s a good feeling when any of famous players like Harmanpreet mentione you positively.”  

Marufa about her dreams to play in the Women’s Big Bash League in Australia, said, “Everyone has some dreams and I also. I am yet to be consistent, if I could perform well, I will definitely have the opportunity to play.” 

The ODI series will kick off on Thursday at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur. The next two matches will be held on November 30 and December 2.
