Marginal people get priority for TCB products

Published : 01 Mar 2022 08:29 PM

TCB's stalls are a place of reliance for the poor and low-income people to some extent. But many complain that TCB dealers do not sell the product properly. Though marginal people can be seen standing in line for hours, some local traders syndicated to buy products at lower prices and sell them at higher prices. Again, there are many who are standing in line with more than one member of their family to buy products.

Such allegations come from the consumers at a frequent rate. To mitigate the issue, authorities concerned have decided that cards will be given to poor families to reduce human suffering for all these reasons. And for sale of TCB products with the card is being listed at the union level as per the instructions of the concerned authority.

According to the relevant sources, new rules are being introduced to prevent fraud in the sale of TCB products. This new strategy of selling TCB products is being determined by holding meetings of different departments of the Ministry of Commerce and District Administration. From now on, dealers will be able to sell TCB products only to indigent persons or poor families with certain cards. As a result of this rule, actual people with low income will get TCB products at a

lower price.

Mokhlishur Rahman, who is in charge of Moulvibazar district administration, said that a meeting of the district administration has been held on the issue following the directive of the Commerce Ministry. The Upazila Nirbahi officers were instructed to make a list from the meeting. Union Parishad officials have been instructed to prepare the list. The final list will be approved after it is sent to the Upazila Parishad, from the Upazila Parishad to the District Administration and from the District Administration to the Ministry.

It is learned that out of the seven upazilas of Moulvibazar district, 2,649 cards are to be issued in Baralekha, 3,354 in Juri, 3,095 in Kulaura, 4,090 in Kamalganj, 4,147 in Sadar, 2,871 in Rajnagar and 8,144 in Srimangal upazila. Now the work of selecting the beneficiaries at the union level is going on. The concerned Union Parishad will prepare the list and send it to the Upazila Committee. Rajnagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Priyanka Pal said, "The district administration office has been asked to prepare the list. The union council chairman is preparing the list." Kamalganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ashekul Haque said, ‘The list has already been prepared through the Union Parishad chairmen. The list will be sent to the district administration office soon.

Work is also underway to compile a list of beneficiaries through councilors in five municipalities of the district. Beneficiaries will be given cards after the list is approved by the ministry. The people concerned think that this will benefit the real poor families.
