The UK Bangladesh Catalysts of Commerce & Industry (UKBCCI) has honoured Syed Manzur Elahi, chairman of the Apex Group, with the "Lifetime Achievement Award" for his long time contributions to trade and industry.
The UKBCCI awards was handed over to Mr. Manzur Elahi in grand reception ceremony in central London.
The founding chairman of Mutual Trust Bank Ltd. (MTB) and Pioneer Insurance Company Limited Mr Elahi is an eminent industrialist and also former adviser to the Caretaker Government of Bangladesh for twice.
An UKBCCI statement said a total of ten UK business personalities were honoured for their personal contributions and achievement, at the annual awards ceremony.
Bajloor Rashid MBE, president of UKBCCI and other leaders of the body were present on the occasion.
Bangladesh high commissioner to the UK Ms Saida Muna Tasneem, Rt Hon James Cleverly MP, Lord Karan Bilimoria, Rushanara Ali MP, Paul Scully MP, Julian Knight MP, John Biggs, executive mayor, LB Tower Hamlets and The Worshipful Mayor of Croydon Cllr Humayun Kabir, among others, attended the gala event.
