Several countries including Turkey, Nepal, Palestine, the United Arab Emirates, Iran and Bosnia have expressed “solidarity” with Bangladesh in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.
The foreign ministry in a statement on Friday said foreign ministers of these countries discussed the issue and their cooperation either through exchanging Eid greetings or over telephone with Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Nepalese Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Palestinian Riyad al Maliki, Iranian Mohammad Javad Zarif, Bosnia’s Dr Bisera Turkovic and UAE’s Sheikh Abdullah Bib Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan sent Eid greetings to Dr Momen.
They prayed for the “deliverance of all Islamic countries including all the humans from this coronavirus pandemic”.
They expressed the hope of having stronger relations with Bangladesh, the foreign ministry said.
The Maldivian Foreign Minister expressed deep shock over the deaths during the cyclone ‘Amphan’ in Bangladesh.
He also lauded different steps taken by Bangladesh before the cyclone hit the coastal districts of Bangladesh, read the statement.
