Planning Minister MA Mannan visited the Roopur Nuclear Power Plant in Ishwardi of Pabna on Friday. During the visit, he inquired about the progress of the installation of cooling plant and uranium plant of the project.
Earlier, the minister attended a view-exchange meeting with the officials concerned about the progress of the project. Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman, Chief Engineer of Atomstroy Export UM Kushelev, Deputy Project Director Md. Hashinur Rahman and officials of the project were also present there.
Planning Minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is giving utmost importance to this project. We do not want any delay in this project. We want this project to be implemented within the stipulated time. The minister directed the concerned authorities to inform the government in case of any problems on this project.
At the meeting, Director of Atomstroy Export A Tupilov presented a PowerPoint presentation on the progress of implementation of the project. It was informed at the time that the two units of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant would produce a total of 2400 MW of power.
The project is expected to be completed by 2025. In order to complete the work of the two units of the project, the main equipment must be installed on the reactor vessel, steam generator, polar crane and turbine. The work will be completed between 2021 and 2023. The first unit is expected to start power generation in 2024 and the second unit in 2025.
